The Diablo was launched in 1990 as a replacement for the legendary Countach and offered a substantial improvement in performance over the earlier car. Thanks to fuel injection and an increase in engine capacity to 5.7 litres the Diablo was one of the fastest cars available with a top speed in excess of 200 mph. The VT introduced in 1993 brought with it four wheel drive for better roadholding, a more ergonomic interior and power steering making the performance more accessible and improving the comfort for driver and passenger. The Diablo was the last Lamborghini car designed before the takeover by Audi in 1998 and so has a particular significance for collectors.
The Diablo VT we are offering here is a left hand drive 1993 model which has covered only 13,000 miles from new. Delivered new in 1993 to a member of the Jordanian Royal Family, it is believed that this car has been in single family ownership from new. The VT was registered in the UK in March 2009 and has been in the hands of just one keeper since with maintenance carried out with no expense spared by well known Italian supercar specialists.
In keeping with its low mileage, the Diablo is in excellent condition and is probably the best Diablo VT that we have seen. The black leather interior shows no signs of wear and the paintwork is very good. Mechanically the Diablo is also very good and has benefited from a new clutch less than 2,000 miles ago. The Alpine radio, amplifier and CD changer are present as are all tools including towing eye, Lamborghini gloves, tool roll, spare bulbs, inspection lamp and even the original can of tyre sealant!
