11. Miss Hart closed the door of the schoolroom and sat on the edge of  Ruby's desk.

Hart 선생님은 교실문을 닫고 루비의 책상 끝에 걸터앉았다.

 

"Ruby, dear," she said gently, "you don't need to copy everything Angela does. You can be anything you want to be, but be Ruby first. I like Ruby."

"루비 얘야" 그녀가 부드럽게 말했다. "앤젤라가 하는 모든것을 따라하지 않아도되. 너가 원하는 뭐가 되도 되지만 먼저 루비 너가 되렴. 난 루비가 좋단다."

 

Miss Hart smiled at Ruby. Ruby smiled at Miss Hart's beautiful, polished fingermails.

Hart선생님은 루비에게 미소지었다. 루비는 Hart선생님의 아름다운 칠해져있는 손톱에 미소지었다.

"Have a nice weekend," said Miss Hart.

"즐거운 주말 보내렴"하고 Hart선생님이 말했다.

"Have a nice weekend," said Ruby.

"즐거운 주말 보내세요"하고 루비가 말했다.

 

12. On Monday moring, Miss Hart said, "I hope everyone had a pleasant weekend. I did!

I wnet to the opera. "Miss Hart looked around the room.

월요일 아침 Hart선생님이 말했다. "모든 사람들이 즐거운 주말 보냈었으면 좋겠네요. 전 그랬어요. 전 오페라에 갔었죠" Hart선생님이 교실을 빙 둘러보았다.

 

"Does anyone have something to share?"

"누구 뭔가 얘기할꺼 있나요?"

Ruby waved her hand. Glued to every finger was a pink plastic fingernail.

루비가 손을 휘저었다.. 모든 손가락에는 분홍색 플라스틱 손톱이 붙어져있었다.

"I went to the opera, too!" said the Ruby.

"저도 오페라에 갔다왔어요!"하고 루비가 말했다.

"She did not!" whispered Angela.

"쟤 안갔다왔어!"하고 Angela가 속삭였다.

 

Miss Hart foled her hands and looked very serious.

Hart선생님은 그녀의 손을 접고 매우 진지하게 쳐다봤다.

"Ruby, dear," said Miss Hart gently," did you do anything else this weekend?"

 "루비 얘야" 하고 Hart선생님이 부드럽게 얘기했다 "이번 주말에 뭐 한거 있니?"

13. Ruby peeled off a fingernail.

루비가 손톱을 떼어냈다.

"I hopped," said Ruby.

"뛰었어요"하고 루비가 말했어요 (뛴거 앞으로 뛴게 아니라; 위로 뛴겁니다; 점프했어요라고 해도 되겠네요)

 

The class giggled.

반 전체가 웃었다.

Ruby's ears turned red.

루비의 귀가 빨갛게 됐다.

"But I did! I hopped around the picnic table ten times!" Ruby looked around the room.

"하지만 그랬는걸! 피크닉 테이블 주위를 10번동안 뛰었어!"루비가 교실을 쳐다봤다.

"Watch!"

"잘봐!"

 

14. Ruby sprang from her desk.

루비가 그녀의 책상에서부터 튀어일어났다.

She hopped forward.

그녀가 앞으로 뛰었다.

she hopped backward.

그녀가 뒤로 뛰었다.

she hopped siedways with both eyes shut.

 그녀는 두눈을 감고 양쪽으로 뛰었다.

The class cheered and clapped their hands to the beat of Ruby's feet.

반 전체가 환호했고 루비가 구르는 발 박자에 맞춰 박수를 쳤다.

Ruby was the best hopper they have ever seen.

루비는 그들이 이때까지 본 가장 최고로 잘 뛰는 사람이었다.

Miss Hart turnde on the tape player and siad, "Follow the leader! Do the Ruby Hop!"

Hart선생님은 테잎을 틀고 말했다 "리더를 따라해요! "루비 점프"를 해요!"

So Ruby led class around the room, while everyone copied HER.

그래서 반이 그녀를 따라하는 동안 그녀는 교실 겉으로 반을 이끌었다.

 

15. And at noon, Ruby and Angela hopped home for lunch

그리고 정오에 루비와 앤젤라는 집으로 점심 먹으러 뛰어갔다.
