여러분 태평양의 섬을 떠올려보세요. 아마도 여러분은 맑고, 깨끗할 것 같다고 생각할 것입니다. Think about the Pacific islands. Probably everybody imagine that island in the Pacific ocean are clean and very bright
하지만 오늘 제가 소개해 드릴 섬은 바로 태평양 한가운데 위치한 쓰레기섬입니다. 태평양 쓰레기섬, 여러분은 알고 계셨나요? however, The island that I'll going to introduce are what we call garbage island located in middle of Pacific ocean, Pacific ocean garbage island did you know this?
처음 태평양 쓰레기섬을 발견한 사람은 미국의 해양 환경운동가 찰스 무어입니다. 찰스 무어는 1997년 태평양의 한가운데서 쓰레기가 빙빙 돌고 있는 환류 지대를 발견합니다. 그가 발견한 것은 쓰레기로 가득찬 극도로 오염된 섬 이였습니다. First person who found out garbage out in are charles mure Who work for nature keeping. 1997 charles mure found out garbage are spinning around gyre. he found out was actually an island that has been contaminated.
현재 우리가 상상도 못했던 어마한 양들의 쓰레기가 모여 있습니다. 놀랍게도 쓰레기섬의 크기는 한반도의 8배 텍사스주의 2배라고 합니다. Now, unimaginable amout of garbage are piled up on island. This garbage island are 8 times bigger than Korea and 2 times bigger than Texas.
태평양 쓰레기섬의 규모는 점점 커지고 있으며 그 피해도 커지고만 있습니다. 그중 많은 종류의 쓰레기가 있지만, 분해되지 않고 마지막까지 남는 쓰레기는 바로 플라스틱이라고 합니다. As the garbage island starts to grow the casualty that cause by island are getting bigger. Lots of types of garbage stays there how ever plastic never disapper in natural states
가장 큰 문제점은 이러한 플라스틱 조각을 플랑크톤과 물고기, 새, 거북이 등이 먹이로 인식하고 먹는다는 것입니다. 현재 플라스틱 쓰레기를 먹고 죽은 물고기와 새 그리고 많은 생물체들의 시체가 흩뿌려져 있습니다. Biggist problem is plankton, fish, bird, turtle eat that plastic because they thought it was food. Now bird and fish died by eating plastic shatters around island.
또한 이러한 문제는 우리 인간에게도 직간접의 환경호르몬 피해를 입힙니다.
인간의 욕심때문에 많은 것들이 희생된다는 사실이 매우 안타깝습니다. Also, this problem directly affact human too, it is sad that living organism die by greed of human kind. 현재 우리 태평양 바다 한가운데는 인간이 만든 창조물로 인해 많은 생명이 죽어가고 있습니다.
이제 태평양은 우리가 지켜야 합니다. 많은 사람들이 경각심을 잃지 않았으면 좋겠습니다. 태평양의 쓰레기섬을 꼭 기억해주세요. Now, it is time for us the human have to protect pacific island. Please remember the garbage island in Pacific.
