Nippon-Ham vs Chiba Lotte Game Analysis

Nippon-Ham

Kenta Uehara (0-3, 7.27 ERA) will attempt to get his first win of the season again. Uehara pitched well on the 11th, allowing 4 hits and 1 run in 7 innings during a home game against Chunichi, but he lost due to a lack of offensive support. He successfully overcame his poor performance in May. However, he didn't pitch well during the away game against Chiba Lotte on March 31st, allowing 2 runs in 4 innings, and he was also poor against Chiba Lotte at home last year, which is a significant concern. Nippon-Ham's offense, which scored 6 runs including a grand slam by Franmil Reyes against Tanaka and Hirohata in the previous game, isn't in bad condition overall during this series. However, the decline in hitting in the latter half of the game is regrettable. The bullpen, which allowed 6 runs in 4 innings, truly let the team down, especially with the disastrous performances of the two foreign pitchers.

Chiba Lotte

Yuji Nishino (5-5, 3.58 ERA) is aiming for his 6th win of the season. Nishino managed to overcome his slump in interleague play by securing a win with 2 runs allowed in 5.2 innings during a home game against Rakuten on May 25th. However, his overall poor performance against Nippon-Ham last year, including a 5-run loss in 5 innings during an away game, poses a significant concern. Chiba Lotte's offense, which scored 9 runs including a 3-run homer by Toshiya Sato against Nippon-Ham's pitchers in the previous game, will be glad to have broken their 8-game losing streak at Escon Field. The two big innings will likely boost the team's morale. The bullpen, which held on with 2 hits and 1 run in 4 innings, is fortunate to have Shota Suzuki recovering quickly.

Comments

The game was overturned more due to an absurd error by Jabari rather than Murphy’s poor performance. The fact that a big inning occurred after the error could be a strength for Chiba Lotte in this game. While neither Uehara nor Nishino has promising records against their opponents, Chiba Lotte’s bullpen is a bit more stable in close games, and this will likely decide the match. Ending the 8-game losing streak at Escon Field is certainly a strength for Chiba Lotte. The Chiba Lotte Marines, who have the momentum, are closer to victory.
