◈White Sox
Davis Martin (2 losses, 2.96 ERA) isRetrying for his first win of the season. On the 27th, against Detroit at home, Martin pitched 5 innings allowing 7 hits and 1 earned run. He typically performs well at home but has struggled on the road lately. One cannot deny that Martin can usually hold up for 5 innings at home. The Mets' lineup scored 5 runs, including a 2-run home run from JD Martinez, while defeating Cannon and Tucson, which is a relief that they are maintaining their hitting form on the road. However, it is disappointing that they managed only 1 run against Tucson. I don't understand why the bullpen managed to skip 3.2 innings and used Edwin Diaz for three consecutive games.

◈New York Mets
Jose Quintana (6 wins, 9 losses, 4.36 ERA) is aiming for his 7th win of the season. On the 26th, against San Diego on the road, Quintana delivered an impressive performance with 6.1 innings pitched, allowing only 4 hits and no earned runs. It is encouraging that he managed to overcome his struggles from August in the final stretch. Having shown a bounce-back on the road should give hope for this game. The White Sox lineup only managed to score 1 run in the first inning against Megil the previous day, which illustrates how lackluster their offense has been. The fact that all runs in the last two games came from Benintendi should serve as a wake-up call. Thankfully, Tucson managed to cover 4 innings by himself.

◈Comment
Can the subdued White Sox lineup come back to life? Currently, that seems highly unlikely. Battling against Quintana will also be tough. Martin's pitching may hold up at home, but since Cannon collapsed the previous day and the White Sox bullpen is not reliable, it’s hard to have confidence in them. The New York Mets, who are better on paper, are closer to victory.
