While the LA Dodgers' last-minute chase ended in failure, they are set to play a bullpen game. This decision was made to provide additional rest for Yoshinobu Yamamoto and to reorganize the starting rotation overall. If all goes well, Ryan Yarbrough's role will become quite significant. The Dodgers' lineup managed to score 2 runs, including a solo home run by Shohei Ohtani against Gray and Yates in the previous game, but it’s disappointing that they couldn't overcome the bullpen day. An error by trade acquisition Cavan Biggio was a crucial turning point. The bullpen performed their duty excellently, pitching 4 innings, conceding only 1 hit and no runs after Buehler was pulled.

The Texas Rangers, who almost blew a solid victory, will have Michael Lorenzen (3-3, 3.05 ERA) aiming for his 4th win of the season. Lorenzen showcased a disappointing performance in the June 8th home game against San Francisco, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing 2 runs. His streak of 4 consecutive strong starts was broken. Overall, his pitching this season has been quite impressive, boasting a 2-1 record with a .196 batting average against during night games — a point that cannot be overlooked. Despite winning the previous game, the Texas lineup continues to struggle, with Corey Seager’s 3-run homer being the only score during the game. Their performance in scoring positions, going 1-for-9, was almost expected. The bullpen managed to hold out for 6 innings, conceding only 1 run, and it's fortunate that Kirby Yates didn't blow the save.

This game is the Dodgers' bullpen day. It seems unlikely that Bobby Miller will be called up quickly. Given Texas' struggles against left-handed pitchers, the opener-Yarbrough strategy could be quite effective. Lorenzen can also be expected to pitch well against the Dodgers, but banking on two consecutive strong bullpen performances from Texas seems too risky. With the Dodgers being the stronger team, they are closer to securing the win.

Predicted Score: 5-4 LA Dodgers win

Handicap: Texas win

Over/Under: Over
