Colorado

Tanner Gordon will make his Major League debut. After being selected by Atlanta in the 6th round in 2019 and moving around, Gordon has come to Colorado and is honored to debut at the age of 26. With a record of 2-3 and an ERA of 5.35 in AAA PCL this season and an opposing batting average of .299, it's a sign that we shouldn't expect much. Although Colorado's offense put up three runs against Seth Lugo, including a two-run homer by Brenton Doyle in the previous game, it’s hard to say that their hitting has been good this series. Doyle, who hit the crucial two-run homer, continues his frenzied run. The bullpen, which pitched two scoreless innings, is still performing its role well.

Kansas City

Brady Singer (4-5, 3.05 ERA) will go for his fifth win of the season. Despite pitching well at home against Tampa Bay on the 3rd, allowing three hits and one run over five innings, Singer took the loss and once again proved his strength at home. The fact that his recent road performances have been of QS quality is a positive, and his dominant 4-1 record with a 2.15 ERA in day games is significant. In the previous game, Kansas City's offense squandered all their opportunities, with Vinnie Pasquantino’s solo home run off Austin Gomber being their only score. They blew their chances in the latter part of the game, making their scoring issues in this series quite severe. However, the bullpen’s two scoreless innings are a consolation.

Comment

Considering the characteristics of this series, Singer’s expectation would be a QS as well. While it's uncertain how Gordon will pitch, it's tough to expect good pitching from a pitcher with a nearly .300 opposing batting average in PCL. If Kansas City loses this game, their first-half winning percentage will crumble below .500. The Kansas City Royals, ahead in starting pitching, are closer to victory.
