San Diego Padres vs Arizona Diamondbacks
The San Diego Padres, who created a miraculous comeback, will have Matt Waldron (5 wins, 7 losses, 3.56 ERA) aiming for his 6th win of the season. Waldron, who had a disappointing performance with 4 runs in 4.1 innings during an away game in Boston on the 1st, has shown that he's generally not good in stadiums far from the sea. However, his recent home game pitching has been good, and his performance on June 9th against Arizona, where he allowed only 1 run on 3 hits in 6 innings at home, is worth noting.
In the previous game, San Diego's lineup, which scored 10 points including 3 home runs against Arizona's pitchers, clearly showed an overall increase in hitting. Arizona's lineup, which struggled against Vazquez in the previous game but managed to score 8 points with 3 home runs, including 2 in the top of the 9th inning, continues to perform well in away games, which is their gain. Their good performance in the later innings can be a strength throughout the series. However, it is critical that their closer, Sewald, allowed a game-tying and a go-ahead home run as soon as he came on.
A 5-run game was overturned in the top of the 9th inning, and then again in the bottom of the 9th inning. San Diego at home is showing exceptional playing quality, and with Waldron's ace-level pitching against Arizona, there are high expectations for another solid outing. However, Pfaadt is particularly weak against San Diego and Arizona's bullpen collapsed significantly in the previous game. San Diego Padres have the upper hand in starters and are closer to victory.
