The Colorado lineup was shut out in the previous game, managing only 8 hits against Colin Rea. Especially detrimental was their 0-for-8 performance with runners in scoring position. The fact that Brent Doyle was the only one putting in effort is problematic. Fortunately, Peter Lambert managed to hold the opponent scoreless over 4.1 innings, allowing just 2 hits, which was a relief.
Milwaukee
Tobias Myers (5 wins, 2 losses, 3.26 ERA) will aim for his 6th win of the season. In his last game at home against the Cubs on the 30th, Myers pitched 6 innings, allowing 3 runs, leaving some disappointment due to a home run he gave up. Considering his pitch mix and hit characteristics, it seems likely that Myers' performance at Coors Field will be right around a Quality Start (QS). In the previous game, the Milwaukee lineup managed to score 3 runs, including a solo home run by Christian Yelich, by attacking Dakota Hudson. Despite the victory, their hitting situation is far from excellent. Not scoring against Lambert is a significant issue. On the positive side, Jacob Junis pitched 2 scoreless innings by himself, which could be very helpful.
Comment
In this series, both teams' hitting has not been able to fully capitalize on Coors Field. However, Colorado's key point is that Brent Doyle is definitely doing his part. Tobias Myers' pitching style is susceptible to being hit at Coors Field, and Milwaukee has been struggling to attack Colorado pitchers' sinkers in this series. Quantrill's sinker is the best on the team in home games. With these advantages, the Colorado Rockies are closer to victory.
