SATINDER BINDRA, CNN Correspondent: Meet 26-year-old Ramnique Singh. He runs his own business selling kitchenware. In a country where most people use public transport, he drives his own $40,000 car, Ioves designer clothes, listens to cool music and has an MBA. Still, for all these modern0day trappings, tradition plays a major role in Ramnique's life.

SATINDER BINDRA(여자?남자? 이름), CNN 특파원 : 26 살 Ramnique Singh를 만나다. 그는 자기 혼자서 부억용품 파는 사업을한다. 대부분 사람들이 대중교통을 이용하지만, 그는 4천만원짜리 차를 끌고, 디자이너가 만든 옷을 좋아하며, 쿨한 음악을 듣는다. 그리고 MBA(경영 관리 석사)를 가지고 있다. 요즘세상의 trapping(이때 뜻을 잘 모르겠습니다.) 속에서도 여전히 Ramnique의 삶에서는 전통이 매우 중요한 부분을 차지한다.

 

He wears a turban, a sign of the Sikh faith, which emphasizes the need for personal meditation. Ramnique also enjoys visiting the Sikh temple and he's just agreed to an arranged marriage.

그는 personal meditation의 필요함을 강조하는 시크교의 상징인 터반(시크교/인도)를 입는다.

Ramnique's fiance is 24-year-old Preet Kiran. Also a Sikh, she too has an MBA and has worked as a business consultant. Preet says even with all the growth and modern influences in India, it's still hard for men and women to date, so she agreed to meet and marry someone introduced by her par-ents.

Ramnique의 약혼녀는 Preet Kiran(24살)이다. 그녀또한 시크교우며, MBA를 가지고있으며, 사업 상담가로서 열심히 일하고 있다. Preet는 아무리 이렇게 인도가 요즘 세상사는것처럼 변했어도(선진국), 여전히 남자와 여자는 데이트하기가 힘들고, 그래서 그녀는 부모님에게 소개받은 남자를 만나기로 했다.

 

The divorce rate in Indea where arranged marriages are the norm is still just under 2%. Armed with that assurance and just weeks after their first meeting, Ramnique and Preet are engaged.

인도의 정략결혼의 이혼율은 겨우 2%이다. (만남을 가지겠다고) 확신을 하고 그저 첫만남을 하고 몇주후에, 둘은 약혼을 했다. 

 

Festivities are going to last a full week and this is the first among many elabo-rate parties being hosted by the couples' relatives. Tonight, it's Preet's family's turn. They've invited over 150 guests. No expense has been spared to show-case the families' wealth and status.

축제는 주내내 행해질것이고, 둘이 개최한 축제는 정성있게 만들어진 많은 축제중에 커플의 Relatives(친척,친구,기타 등등)를 처음으로 불른 축제이다. 오늘밤, Preet가(家)의 차례다. 그들은 150명 남짓의 손님을 초대했다. Preet가(家)의 부와 위치(권력)를 보여주기 위해 부른것이 아니다.

 

Next day, more celebrations. This time, it's Ramnique's family that's going all out. But where is the bridegroom? Decked in hes best, he's actually riding a white stallion ㅡ part of a function where both families are being formally hangs garlands around each other: it's a picture-perfect moment. One that underscores how the young are using a traditional method of marriage to meet modern-day aspirations.

다음날, 더많은 축제를 한다. 이번에는 Ramnique가(家)가 다 부를 차례다. 근데 신랑은 어딧지? 그의 최고로 장식된거에, 그는 하얀 종마를 타고있다 - (종마를 타고있는 이유) = 두 집안이 화환을 걸어주는 행사.

사진찍기 딱 알맞다. 중요한건 그 어린것들이 요즘세상에서 열망을 얻기위해 전통적인 혼인식을 치룬다.

 

Next morning, the couple walk around the Sikh holy book to solemnize their wedding. Both say they're prepared for surprises.

다음날, 커플은 결혼식을 엄히 거행하기위해 둘이 시크교의 성스러운 경전을 훑는다. 둘다 Surprises에 준비되었다고 말한다.

 

영어로 그냥 읽으면 뭐라하는지 알겠는데 한국어로 바꾸니까 힘드내요.
